TCC Education Center

A great opportunity but we cannot do it without you!

The TCC programs are already 'maxed out'. The key to the TCC's future and long-term sustainability lies in the addition of a dedicated educational facility on our existing campus. It will provide an additional 4,400 square feet designed specifically for ceramics and outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. It will allow the TCC to increase their revenues sufficiently to enable the hiring of full-time staff that is already a pressing concern.

The facility will provide the TCC with the space and flexibility to expand our class offerings at least two-fold including more for school-age children, veterans, and adults. It will also allow for year-round workshops (currently limited to seasonal and 2-day duration) that will attract artisans not only locally but throughout the US. We have already begun establishing relationships from coast to coast with many of the country's leading ceramic artists who are anxiously awaiting our invitation to lead and attend workshops, attend seminars, and provide speaking engagements. The facility will provide a much needed presentation space that will be suited to comfortably accommodate sixty or more people. The entire space will be ADA accessible with easy entry and an interior elevator for reaching the 2nd floor presentation space.

The building is largely designed and we are looking to begin site work by March of 2026. We need your help to make this a reality! Over the course of 2024, we are seeking to raise $650,000, largely through private donation. A number of fundraising events are in the works that will begin this summer. A fund has already been established at the Centinel Bank of Taos for your donations.

If you should have any doubt about our conviction, let's look at what the TCC has already accomplished in just its first five years:

The founders of the TCC privately funded the purchase of its two existing buildings of 5600 square feet and the 1/4 acre lot that the educational center will be sited on. They have never taken a cent out of the business's proceeds nor do they ever intend to. Two of the founders have each worked more than 60 hours a week, since inception, without compensation. In 2023, the TCC created a year-round artist in-residency program for two artists that provides a private studio and comfortable housing, well-below market value. The TCC is now hosting their 4th and 5th resident. In July of 2024, they were officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) educational organization by the federal and state governments. The TCC ceramic supply store is the only one of its kind between Albuquerque and Denver servicing 450+ ceramic artists in northern NM and southern CO. And finally, the TCC Gallery is considered by many to be the finest ceramics exhibition center in the state of New Mexico and perhaps, throught the southwest.
