Artists-in-Residence (two)

The Taos Ceramics Center (TCC) is seeking two accomplished ceramic artists for our new Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program that will begin May 1, 2023. The residencies are for a minimum of six months and maximum of one year.

This is an outstanding opportunity for those seeking to spend time in what many consider the richest arts environment in the US, surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty, and a wonderful community. Our studio, gallery, and supply store opened two years ago and has already established a reputation for quality, creativity, and innovation attracting regular members and students from not only Taos but  Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Abiquiu as well.

We are offering a wonderful two-bedroom/two-bath furnished residence immediately adjacent to the TCC studio for our AiR accommodations. Bedrooms and baths are on opposite sides of the house with a common kitchen, dining and living room. Numerous patios and porches outdoors.

AiRs will have 24/7 access to the TCC studio, including all equipment, kilns, and studio glazing materials as well as a 10% discount on all clay purchases from our store. AiRs will be expected to teach a minimum of one 3-4 hour class per week (paid), and 6-8 hours/week of studio maintenance that includes some general cleaning, kiln loading/unloading, reclaim maintenance/pugging, studio glaze maintenance, and possibly kiln maintenance (if experienced).

Our 1200 sq. ft. exhibition gallery is considered by many to be the best ceramics gallery in the state. It is frequented by both locals throughout northern NM as well as tourists from throughout the US and beyond. We have collectors from NY to LA. AiRs will be provided the opportunity for a resident exhibit in the TCC Gallery towards the end of their residency at a 70/30 split of sales.

The TCC is looking for a modest rent, well below market rate, of $750/mo per resident. It includes all utilities, off-street parking, wi-fi, Roku, and a beautifully landscaped exterior. There’s even parking for a smaller RV.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send us your resume/bio and a letter detailing your interest to as soon as possible but not later than February 28, 2023. Also include your preference of 6 months or one year residency. We will be reviewing all applicants, interviewing, and making selections by March 31.
