This class is the perfect class for all who seek to discover the many possibilities of creating with clay! We'll explore an array of hand-building techniques, and you'll be introduced to wheel throwing, and more! The class, taught by an accomplished ceramicist and instructor, Rebecca Browning, is perfect for those new to clay. Instruction will include learning to coil, pinch, slab-build, and wheel throw. Rebecca will make presentations, offer examples, and provide demonstrations.
Fee includes two optional Open Studios of 3 hours each per week.

Slab and Screen!

In this class, you will make a variety of slab built functional-ware such as cups, platters, butter dishes and salt and pepper shakers. Then you'll learn how to transform the surface of your clay works using screenprinting and underglaze! The instructor, Byron Ashley, is an expert in this area and will guide you through the process of creating multi-colored images using various screen-printing techniques such as newsprint transfers and direct printing onto clay slabs. Whether you like to paint, draw or design patterns, this class playfully blends 2D and 3D elements together! All levels of experience welcome.
Fee includes two optional Open Studio sessions of 3 hours per week.

This class has been designed for those new to hand-building. Here you will learn the basics of pinching, coiling, slab building and more sculptural techniques such as solid and hollowing. You'll learn the basics of transforming the surface of your clay vessels with sprig and press molds, slip trailing and sgraffito! Instructor Byron Ashley, a TCC artist-in-residence, will provide demonstrations and assist students of all levels of experience in getting comfortable hand-building with clay.

Stepping Out
Unconventional Hand-Building, Textures, and Surfaces

This class is tailored for students who have prior clay experience, either in hand-building, or in throwing, and would like to explore different techniques of building with coils and strips, as well as soft and hard slab-building. A special focus of this class will be on surface treatment. We will be working with texturing, carving and inlay techniques as well as exploring marbling techniques of different color clays. Instructor, Sonja Hinrichsen has worked in ceramics for over 12 years and is currently an artist-in-residence at the TCC. Sonja will offer examples, provide demos and assist students to achieve their artistic goals.

(and perfect for those who have not thrown "for years") seeking greater comfort behind the wheel.

Kid's Intro to Clay!
Ages 6-10

This class is the class for young kids wanting to have fun with clay!
Limited to just 6 kids!
This 8-week class for children from ages 6 to 10 will be geared towards teaching them the basics of what you can do with clay through hand-building! The class will be focused on creativity, success, and having great FUN! All students will have some fun things to take home along with a sense of pride and accomplishment!
$290* per student, all materials included

You and your kids have been asking for this class for years. We're excited to be offering it again! This 8-week class for children from ages 11 to 14 is designed to teach them to learn the basics of wheel-throwing. Everything from wedging clay, to centering, to throwing, to trimming! The class will be focused on learning basic skills, confidence with clay, and having great FUN! Taught by an instructor with many years of experience with clay and kids!
