This class is the perfect class for all who seek to discover the many possibilities of creating with clay! You will explore an array of hand-building techniques, be introduced to wheel throwing, and even have an opportunity to fire Raku! The class is taught by a very accomplished ceramicist, Rebecca Browning, and is perfect for those new to clay. Instruction will include learning to coil, pinch, slab-build, and wheel throw. Rebecca will make presentations, offer examples, and provide demonstrations.  

Fee includes two optional Open Studios of 3 hours each per week.

Raku, raku, raku! 

Instructor: Lee Akins

Wednesdays 1:00PM-5:00PM

Eight Weeks Beginning June 4th thru July 23rd

Raku is a low-temperature fast-firing technique that achieves unique metallic and lustrous surfaces by cooling the piece in a smoky atmosphere. We will cover basic and specialty raku techniques including Halo, Slip Resist (or Naked Raku), Copper Mat, Obvara, Horsehair. Smoke Firing techniques will include Saggar and Terra Sigillata. Students will see examples and demonstrations and be able to try the techniques. As for your instructor... Lee is among the very best! Some experience in clay is helpful.

Fee includes two optional Open Studio time of 3 hours per week.

This class is taught by TCC's Artist-in-Residence, Owen Moon. His background in ceramic sculpture and years teaching make him a perfect match for this class. It is designed to explore the many aspects of hand-building with clay, including sculpture, for both those new to clay and those more experienced. It includes pinch pots, coil, slab, and more. Owen will make presentations, offer examples, and provide demonstrations. The level of lecture and demonstration is sensitive to the experience of the students. This will be an extraordinary class!!!

Beginning Wheel Throwing!

Always wanted to learn wheel throwing? Honestly, who hasn't?  We've designed this class for adults and young adults (16+) with little or no experience AS WELL AS those with some previous experience

(and perfect for those who have not thrown "for years") seeking greater comfort behind the wheel. 

The instructor, Owen Moon, is an accomplished potter with a great deal of experience at the wheel.

This class in not only certain to be great fun but sometimes opens the door to a life in clay!

"Hybrid" Ceramics

Eight Weeks Beginning June 2nd thru July 21st

 Inspired by his time at Alfred University, Owen Moon will take this class on a unique journey to explore the nearly endless possibilities of clay as a medium. It will entail a look at the many tools that can be used to transform clay into forms and sculptures, combining a host of techniques used to create new fluid work. Owen will prepare weekly demonstrations, examples and presentations to encourage his students. Individual attention will be given to each student in defining their goals and a pathway to success. Students will come away from this class with a much broader understanding of ceramics and what they are capable of achieving.

Any of the TCC intro courses will serve as a prerequisite for enrollment

or prior experience with clay elsewhere.  

Fee includes two optional Open Studios of 3 hours each per week.

Kid's Intro to Clay!
Ages 7-11

Eight Weeks Beginning June 1st thru July 20th

This 8-week class for children from ages 7 to 11 will be geared towards teaching them the basics of what you can do with clay! The class will be focused on creativity, success, and having great FUN!

All students will have some fun things to take home and a sense of pride and accomplishment!

PLEASE NOTE: Classes are generally non-refundable. If there is a waitlist and we can fill your cancellation, you will receive an 85% refund. If the TCC should find it necessary to cancel a class, for whatever reason, you will receive a 100% refund.
