My Army of Angels Carla Emmert

 

As part of TCC's Ceramic Peace exhibit, enjoy viewing Carla Emmert's magnificent,"My Army of Angels". In Carla's words, "These angels represent the diverse communities I believe will be most at risk by the authoritarian policies that we are now seeing. Each is a tribute to resilience, compassion, and the enduring power of art as protest and healing.” Every element of these angels has been exquisitely hand-crafted of mid-fire clay, embossed with antique fabrics, painted with underglazes, oxides, and other glazes before firing. Carla is a retired high school art teacher originally from Oklahoma who now lives in Taos, New Mexico.
