Eight Weeks Beginning June 6 (no class July 4th)

No one teaches Animal Sculpture quite like Alma Quillian! She's the best.

This class will focus on developing and refining your clay forming skills to produce representational sculptural work. Basic construction techniques such as coil, slab, clay modeling and hollowing techniques will be covered, along with surface treatment and finishing. The class will combine group demonstrations with individual attention from the instructor.

All levels of experience welcome. Fee includes one optional Open Studio time of 2-3 hours per week.

Previous clay experience is not required.

Eight Weeks Beginning June 8

This class is taught by one of the area’s most respected instructors, Lee Akins. It is designed to explore the many aspects of hand-building with clay, including sculpture, for both those new to clay and those more experienced. It includes pinch pots, coil, slab, and more. Lee will make presentations, offer examples, and provide demonstrations. The level of lecture and demonstration is sensitive to the experience of the students. 

Fee includes one optional Open Studio time of 2-3 hours per week.

Wednesdays 1:00PM-5PM

Eight Weeks Beginning June 8

Raku is a low-temperature fast-firing technique that achieves unique metallic and lustrous surfaces by cooling the piece in a smoky atmosphere. We will cover basic and specialty raku techniques including Halo, Slip Resist (or Naked Raku), Copper Mat, Obvara, Horsehair. Smoke Firing techniques will include Saggar and Terra Sigillata. Students will be provided  examples and demonstrations and then be able to try the techniques. Some experience in clay is helpful. Those experienced are also more than welcome!

Fee includes one optional Open Studio time of 2-3 hours per week.

Two wheel-throwing classes. One for the beginner and one for the more experienced seeking to throw more complex pots. The beginner class is for adults and young adults (16+) with little or no experience AS WELL AS those seeking a refresher or carry through from a previous wheel throwing class! The more advanced class is designed for those comfortable throwing but would like to learn the techniques and skills necessary to throw larger, more complex forms.

Both teachers, Laura and Sjoran, are very skilled potters with a great deal of experience.

Fee includes one optional Open Studio time of 2-3 hours per week.

Beginning Wheel Throwing: $325 per student + clay and tools (if needed)

Advanced Wheel Throwing: $335 per student + clay and tools (if needed)

Eight Weeks Beginning June 9 (no class July 4th Weekend)

This 8-week class for children from ages 6 to 10ish is all about having fun and stirring creativity. It will  explore some of the various techniques of building with clay with an emphasis on success!  All students will have several creations that they can be proud of by the end of the class.
This class has repeatedly proved a winner!

Teacher, Anna Forster-Smith, is not only a skilled clay artist but also a former elementary and middle school teacher. Your kids will love her!
