MAX MASSEY

Pottery has always played a big part in my life. I'm forever intrigued by its ongoing challenge, endless forms, mix of unique colors,  functionality, and permanence after firing. I also like contemplating the idea that perhaps my pots will be around for thousands of years after me! My first introduction to the potters wheel was in my freshman year of high school. Between my junior and senior year I managed to get a job in a production pottery shop working with 4 to 5 potters at any given time. After I graduated from high school I continued to work in pottery for about six more years. During this time I had the opportunity to work with several excellent potters that essentially were my teachers and established  my education in ceramics. Following this time, I went on to do piece-work for a sculpture/potter. It was at this point  that I started doing art shows, selling in galleries and wholesale. I have been a potter, artist and craftsman ever since.
